Senate Dems are afraid of you and me and are running away from Obama
  • I thought it might be useful to explain what is going on in the Senate this AM. It is pretty telling as to how much the Senate Dems want to run away from their constituents and the President and his tax policies.

    Background:

Sen. Reid introduced a Senate bill to provide certain small business tax relief when they hired new employees as well has depreciation tax credit. The vote yesterday was 80 to 14 to move to proceed to this small business tax bill. Most of the Senate GOP joined the Senate Dems in wanting to begin this debate notwithstanding the fact that all "money bills" (bills that raise revenue, fund government agencies, etc..) must originate in the House per our Constitution.

This morning, Sen. McConnell offered a consent agreement to continue to move the bill forward. It goes like this:

--Vote on a Hatch/McConnell amdt to the bill which extends for 1 year all of the Bush tax cuts from 2001 and 2003 that expire Dec. 31, 2012 and directs the Finance committee to begin writing comprehensive tax reform

--Vote on the Obama tax plan announced this week allowing only the Bush tax cuts for those making under $250K to be extended for 1 year. All other tax provisions that have been enjoyed since 2001 would expire Dec. 31, 2012.

Senator Reid objected to this agreement. The obvious conclusion is that the 16 Senate Democratic seats up for relection are afraid of casting a vote against continuing all of the Bush tax cuts, notwithstanding yesterday's visit by David Axelrod's to the Senate Democratic caucus luncheon to appeal for unity behind the President.

Since the 16 Senate Democrats don't want their constituents to know how they would vote on these issues, what if GG members called the 16 Senate Democrats and asked them how they would vote on the President's tax proposal vs the Hatch/McConnell tax proposal? The list is below:

    Democrats/Independents seeking re-election Capitol switchboard: 1-202-224-3121

    Dianne Feinstein of California
    Tom Carper of Delaware
    Bill Nelson of Florida
    Ben Cardin of Maryland
    Debbie Stabenow of Michigan
    Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota
    Claire McCaskill of Missouri
    Jon Tester of Montana
    Bob Menendez of New Jersey
    Kirsten Gillibrand of New York
    Sherrod Brown of Ohio
    Bob Casey, Jr. of Pennsylvania
    Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island
    Bernie Sanders of Vermont (Independent)
    Maria Cantwell of Washington
    Joe Manchin of West Virginia

  • As a way to update you guys...These 5 Senate Dems are not planning on supporting the President's $250K and under extension of the Bush tax cuts:

    Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL)
    Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE)
    Sen. Manchin (D-WVA)
    Sen. Pryor (D-AR)
    Sen. McCaskill (D-MO)

This means if a vote were to occur in the coming days in the Senate that only required a majority vote, the President's tax plan of extending for 1 yr only the Bush tax cuts for those under $250K would fail to pass in the Democratically controlled Senate.

  • As more of an update, the POTUS is now having a Democratic congressional leadership mtg today @ 2:15 with the top Dems:

    Sen. Reid
    Sen. Schumer
    Sen. Durbin
    Sen. Murray
    Cong. Pelosi,
    Cong. Hoyer
    Cong. Clyburn
    Cong. Van Hollen

The wheels really look like they are coming off the his new tax policy--wagon. I learned that Sec. Geitner was the one that talked POTUS into changing his strategy for the new tax idea and extending the Bush tax cuts only for those under $250K and not the $1M level like Pelosi and Schumer wanted.

    Stay tuned,

  • No AMERICANS TRUE AMERICANS DO NOT AGREE WITH King Obama....Americans have always believed if you work hard in this country NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE ....THE IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES A LITTLE LONGER..... We are not lazy we believe in hard work....Unlike Michealle Obama that worked at her last job as a Human Resource personal at a Hospital and didnt even bother to go in to work....and made 370.000 per year for that .....All congressmen that vote for the OBAMACARE TAX on all Americans needs to be fired....The Muslims and the ILLEGAL ALEINS are EXEMPT FROM HIS TAX.... Only if you are an American are you made to pay his TAX because this man hates America....!!!!
  • The Liberals can only point fingers, as their plans have no value and all they have done since 2007, is spend money needlessly. The Dems not voting for the Tax proposal are doing so to try and keep themselves in Power. I am from Florida and Nelson is a Cancer that needs to be gone
  • AMEN that MOC want so badly to stay in power they will kick-the-can down the road on all of these items, to our country's harm. Thanks for posting.
  • everything obama has done to this country he has copied the takeover of germany, history will make us all ashamed that we let let this facist taking over our most god favored nation.
  • Every damn one of them lawless bastards needs to be dragged out from where ever they are, cuffed and stuffed and charged with high treason!!!!
  • Well I hope to GOD they don't try and come running to We The People! They are responsible and guilty for allowing this monster and his regime to do what they have done to my country..LAWLESS ALL OF THEM! Piss on them!!
  • I just wonder if and when we the people will ever create a litmus test for voters? I believe that if the voters had been able to read and write, they would never have voted for King Obama and his court. Also there would not be a Harry Nancy Barbara's Waxman Frank and the likes. Wake up AMERICA.
  • Democrats are the "Party of Blame"
  • I have never seen our country in more danger than it is now. We have to defeat this communist in the WH in Nov. Those guttless wonders, I call congress, are more interested in getting reelected than in doing the job that they were elected to do. We need to get a big broom and sweep Washington the district of corruption clean of every one of of them who are unwilling to do the job. WE NEED TERM LIMITS.

Howdy, Stranger!
